Run your first audit

Start an audit, watch it run, and understand what lands in the report.

An audit reviews the last 14 days of a connected account and turns that activity into a graded report: what is working, what is not, and what to change first.

Before you start

You need three things in place.

  • A connected account. Audits read data through the platform's API, so the account has to be connected first. See Connections overview.
  • Recent activity. BlueKona checks for posts before it starts. An account with nothing published in the last 14 days will not produce a reliable audit, and the run is refused.
  • Owner or admin access. Members can read audits but cannot start them.

Start the audit

  1. Open the audit wizard

In the sidebar, go to Growth → Social Audit → New Audit. If you have never run one, the Audit status card on your dashboard also has a Start audit button that takes you to the same place.

  2. Pick what to audit

You will see a card for each platform. Connected accounts show a green Connected pill and the handle being audited; anything showing Not connected is disabled until you connect it.

Pick a single platform to review one channel in depth, or Cross Platform to compare your connected channels against each other. Site Audit analyses your website instead, using Google Search Console and Analytics.

  3. Confirm the details

The confirmation screen shows the Account being audited and the Audit period — a 14-day window with its start and end dates.

If you are auditing YouTube you will also see an Audit depth choice. Leave it on Standard for your first run; Deep audits cover a full year and are worth saving until you have a reason for them.

  4. Run it

Press Run Audit. The button changes to Starting… and you are taken to that platform's audit page, where the run begins immediately.

If you are auditing LinkedIn

LinkedIn does not expose analytics through its API yet, so the confirmation screen includes a LinkedIn page data form. Enter your Company Page's follower count and your recent posts, then press Save page data before running the audit.

While it runs

A panel titled Thinking stream shows progress as the audit works through its stages:

StatusWhat is happening
Connecting…The stream is opening
Fetching analytics data…Pulling your posts and metrics from the platform
AI is analyzing your account…Generating the report
Analysis completeDone — the report replaces the stream

You do not need to stay on the page. The audit finishes on the server, and you can reopen it later from History.

Reading the report

The report opens with your grade and a score out of 100 for the period, followed by a written Summary.

Below that, the parts you will act on:

  • Issues — problems found in the window, each tagged Critical, Warning or Info. Every issue states the finding, the evidence behind it, a suggested FIX, and the impact of leaving it.
  • Suggestions — improvements grouped by category: content, timing, engagement, format, hashtags or growth.
  • Action plan — the work itself, each item marked High, Medium or Low priority and labelled either Quick win or Long term.

The report also includes performance detail for the period: channel metrics, top performing content, posting-time analysis, and charts of engagement over time.

If a section reports nothing — for example "No priority issues were found" — that is a genuine result for the period, not an error.

Saving a copy

The Export button offers PDF report, Word document, Markdown report, Findings CSV, and, for audits with post data, Post metrics CSV.

Running the next one

Each platform can be audited once every 14 days, matching the length of the window. The limit is per platform, so you can audit Instagram and YouTube on the same day.

When you are inside the waiting period, the New Audit button is disabled and a banner tells you the date your next audit unlocks.

A failed audit does not use up your 14 days — you can try again straight away.

Common problems

"We can't run a reliable audit because this account has no posts in the last 14 days." There is nothing to analyse. Publish something, then run the audit again.

"You can only run one audit per 14-day period." You have already audited this platform recently. The audit page shows the date your next one becomes available.

"Forbidden" Your workspace role does not permit starting audits. Ask an owner or admin to run it, or to raise your role.

"No Search Console or Analytics data is available for the last 14 days." Specific to Site Audits — your site had no recorded traffic in the window.
