Connecting YouTube

Link a YouTube channel for video analytics, audits and Content Studio.

YouTube is the deepest integration in BlueKona. Connecting a channel unlocks audits, video analytics, and Content Studio — including editing titles and descriptions and pushing them back to YouTube.

What you need

  • A YouTube channel — personal or brand, any size.
  • The Google account that owns or manages that channel.
  • Owner or admin access to your BlueKona workspace.

Connect it

  1. Open Connections

Go to Settings → Connections and press Connect on the YouTube card.

  2. Choose the right Google account

Google asks which account to use. Pick the one that owns the channel — this is the most common thing to get wrong, especially if you are signed into several accounts.

  3. Approve the permissions

Review what BlueKona is asking for and approve.

  4. Pick the channel

If the Google account manages more than one channel, choose which one to bind. You are returned to Connections with "YouTube channel connected."

Permissions requested

PermissionWhy
youtube.readonlyRead your channel, videos and metadata
yt-analytics.readonlyRead view, watch-time and engagement analytics
youtube.force-sslFetch captions, and apply edits you make in Content Studio

What it unlocks

  • YouTube audits — performance, cadence and engagement over the audit window.
  • Content Studio — sync your videos, score them, get AI rewrites for titles, descriptions and chapters, and apply approved changes back to YouTube.
  • Video Pipeline — use your channel as a source library.

Troubleshooting

"No YouTube channel found on this Google account." The Google account you signed in with does not have a channel. Disconnect, then reconnect with the account that owns it.

Analytics look incomplete right after connecting YouTube Analytics lags behind real time by up to 48 hours. A very recent upload will not have full numbers yet.

Transcripts are not being fetched If you connected before youtube.force-ssl was added, your existing grant does not cover captions. Disconnect and reconnect to re-consent.
