Managing Your Social Media Connections
Learn how to view, refresh, reconnect, and disconnect your social media accounts in bluekona.ai.
Once you've connected your social media accounts to bluekona.ai, you can easily manage all your connections from one central location. This guide covers viewing connection status, refreshing tokens, reconnecting expired accounts, and disconnecting platforms.
Accessing Your Connections
From the Dashboard
- Log in to bluekona.ai
- Navigate to Settings from the main menu
- Select Social Connections
Or use the quick access:
- Click Connect Platform button from any page
- View connection cards on the main dashboard
Connection Overview Page
The Social Connections page displays:
- All your connected accounts
- Connection status for each platform
- Quick action buttons
- Account information summaries
Understanding Connection Status
Each connected account shows a status indicator:
Connected (Green)
- ✅ Connection is active
- ✅ Token is valid
- ✅ Data is syncing
- ✅ Ready for audits
Action needed: None - everything is working properly.
Token Expiring Soon (Yellow)
- ⚠️ Token will expire within 14 days
- ⚠️ Connection still works
- ⚠️ Action recommended soon
Action needed: Consider reconnecting to refresh the token proactively.
Token Expired (Orange)
- ⛔ Token has expired
- ⛔ Cannot run new audits
- ⛔ Data sync paused
Action needed: Click Reconnect to restore the connection.
Connection Error (Red)
- ❌ Connection issue detected
- ❌ Unable to access platform
- ❌ May indicate revoked permissions
Action needed: Try reconnecting. If the issue persists, check the troubleshooting guide.
Syncing (Blue)
- 🔄 Currently retrieving data
- 🔄 Temporary status
Action needed: Wait for sync to complete (usually 2-5 minutes).
Viewing Connection Details
Account Information Display
For each connected account, you'll see:
Platform Logo and Name
- Visual identification of the platform
- Platform-specific icon
Account Details
- Username or handle (@username)
- Profile picture or page logo
- Follower/subscriber count
- Display name
Connection Metadata
- Date connected
- Last sync timestamp
- Token expiration date (if applicable)
- Current status
Metrics Summary
- Recent performance snapshot
- Key metrics at a glance
- Last audit date
Refreshing Connections
Manual Refresh
To manually update data from a connected platform:
- Go to Settings > Social Connections
- Find the account you want to refresh
- Click Refresh Data or Sync Now
- Wait for the sync to complete (usually 1-3 minutes)
When to refresh manually:
- After posting new content
- Before running an audit
- When you notice data seems outdated
- After making platform changes
Automatic Refresh
bluekona.ai automatically refreshes data:
- Every 24 hours for connected accounts
- When you run an audit
- When you access analytics pages
Reconnecting Accounts
When to Reconnect
You need to reconnect when:
- Token has expired (after 60 days for most platforms)
- You see "Token Expired" status
- Connection shows an error
- You revoked and want to restore access
- Platform permissions were changed
Reconnection Process
Locate the Account
- Go to Settings > Social Connections
- Find the expired or error account
Click Reconnect
- Click the Reconnect or Refresh Token button
- You'll be redirected to the platform's OAuth page
Re-Authorize
- Log in to the platform (if needed)
- Review permissions
- Click Authorize or Allow
Confirmation
- Redirected back to bluekona.ai
- Status changes to "Connected"
- Data sync resumes automatically
Important: Reconnecting preserves all your historical audit data.
Disconnecting Accounts
When to Disconnect
You might want to disconnect an account when:
- You no longer manage that account
- Switching to a different account
- Account has been deleted
- Testing connection issues
- Account ownership changed
Disconnection Process
From bluekona.ai
Navigate to Connections
- Go to Settings > Social Connections
Select Account
- Find the account to disconnect
- Click the ... menu or Manage button
Choose Disconnect
- Click Disconnect or Remove
- Confirmation dialog appears
Confirm Action
- Read the warning
- Confirm you want to disconnect
- Account is removed immediately
What happens when you disconnect:
- ✅ Connection removed from bluekona.ai
- ✅ OAuth token revoked
- ✅ Historical audit data preserved
- ✅ Can reconnect anytime
- ❌ No new data collected
- ❌ Cannot run new audits for that account
From the Platform
You can also revoke access from the social media platform directly:
Facebook/Instagram:
- Facebook Settings > Apps and Websites
- Find bluekona.ai
- Remove access
YouTube:
- Google Account > Security
- Third-party apps with account access
- Remove bluekona.ai
X (Twitter):
- X Settings > Security > Apps and sessions
- Find bluekona.ai
- Revoke access
LinkedIn:
- LinkedIn Settings > Data privacy > Permitted services
- Find bluekona.ai
- Revoke access
Threads:
- Instagram Settings > Apps and Websites
- Remove bluekona.ai
TikTok:
- TikTok Settings > Apps and websites
- Remove bluekona.ai
Managing Multiple Accounts
Multiple Accounts of Same Platform
You can connect multiple accounts from the same platform:
Example scenarios:
- Personal YouTube + Brand YouTube
- Multiple Facebook Pages
- Brand Instagram + Personal Instagram (if both are Business accounts)
- Multiple TikTok Business accounts
How it works:
- Each account connects separately
- Switch between accounts in dashboard
- Run individual audits per account
- Compare performance across accounts
Account Limits
Free Tier:
- Limited number of connected accounts
- Check your plan for specific limits
Paid Tiers:
- Higher connection limits
- Varies by subscription level
Internal/Super Users:
- Unlimited connections for testing
View your current usage:
- Go to Settings > Social Connections
- See "X of Y connected" counter
- Upgrade plan for more connections
