Connecting Social Media Platforms

Learn how to safely connect your social media accounts to bluekona.ai with read-only permissions.

Connecting your social media accounts to bluekona.ai is the first step to unlocking powerful AI-driven insights. This guide explains how connections work, what permissions we need, and why your data is always secure.

Why Connect Your Accounts?

bluekona.ai needs access to your social media analytics to:

  • Retrieve performance metrics (views, engagement, reach)
  • Analyze your content and posting patterns
  • Identify trends in audience behavior
  • Generate personalized recommendations

Without connecting accounts, we can't provide insights specific to your brand.

Security & Privacy First

No Passwords Stored

We never ask for or store your social media passwords. All connections use OAuth, an industry-standard authorization protocol where you log in directly on the platform's website.

Read-Only Access

bluekona.ai requests read-only permissions only. This means:

  • ✅ We can view your analytics and metrics
  • ✅ We can see your published content
  • ❌ We cannot post on your behalf
  • ❌ We cannot modify or delete your content
  • ❌ We cannot access your messages or private information

Secure Connection Process

  1. You click "Connect" in bluekona.ai
  2. You're redirected to the platform's official OAuth page
  3. You log in directly on the platform (Facebook, Instagram, etc.)
  4. You review and approve the permissions
  5. You're redirected back to bluekona.ai with a secure token

Your Control

You maintain full control:

  • Revoke access anytime from your bluekona.ai settings
  • Revoke access from the social platform's settings
  • Tokens automatically expire and require refresh
  • No automatic renewals without your action

Account Types

Some platforms require specific account types to access analytics:

Instagram: Must be a Business or Creator account (free upgrade from personal) TikTok: Must be a Business account (free switch from personal) Facebook: Must be a Page (not personal profile) LinkedIn: Must be a Company Page

Personal accounts don't provide API access to analytics, which is why business/creator accounts are required.

Admin/Owner Access

You need admin or owner permissions for:

  • Instagram Business accounts

If you don't have admin access, ask the page owner to connect the account.
